Dog-lovers! Art-lovers! How about using oil pastels to create your own picture of your favourite dog?
In advance of the workshop, you’ll arrange a set-up with your favourite dog, and bring at least one photograph of this to work from during the session. The photograph can be taken within an interior, with consideration of the light; colours, bright or muted; patterns and shapes of furniture, textiles and objects which will form the composition. Alternatively it can be outside, maybe in your local park, garden or in the countryside, again paying attention to the setting and lighting, for example location of trees, plants, pathways, buildings. You may even wish to create a suggestion of narrative within the scene.
Dogs have been depicted throughout the ages since Prehistoric times. They have been used to symbolize loyalty and fidelity, wealth and status; in hunting scenes, and in portraits of master or mistress. This…
